Volleyball Swept at Rhode Island

Rams Fall in Straight Sets in Final Road Contest of the Regular Season

Kingston, R.I. – The Fordham volleyball team wrapped up the road portion of its 2018 regular season with a sweep at the hands of Rhode Island on Saturday, its seventh straight loss in Atlantic 10 action. With the result, the visiting Rams fall to 9-16 overall and 2-10 in league play, while the hosting Rams improve to 12-12 and 2-9, respectively.

The Rams struggled on offense in the match, hitting .083 with a ratio of 36 kills and 27 errors, the latter being the most in a three-set match and most since 36 across five sets against Eastern Kentucky on September 7th. It's also just the third time all season the team hit under .100. Rhode Island, meanwhile, had no player with more than seven kills but committed just eight errors in attack and hit .245 as a group.

Junior Kaitlin Morley led the way for Fordham offensively with a match-high 15 kills, hitting a team-best .265, with three blocks, two digs, and an ace. Bella Ureña came off the bench to chip in seven kills and five others were able to contribute at least one. Makaela Tanaka notched 21 assists to go with five digs and three kills. Morgan Williams tallied 20 digs, falling just two digs shy of the three-set program record which she has tied on two occasions already.

Fordham returns home for the final weekend of the regular season, hosting George Washington and George Mason on back-to-back afternoons this upcoming Friday and Saturday. Both matches are set for 3 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+. The senior class will be honored prior to Saturday's match.
