Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis team hosted the Fordham Four-In-The-Fall at Hawthorn Rooney Courts this weekend, where junior
Fabian Hansch Mauritzson won the B singles draw and
Steven Duka and
Jofre Segarra teamed up to win the B doubles title.
In B singles play, Hansch Mauritzson defeated La Salle's Patrick Pascual 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 in the quarterfinals and Fairleigh Dickinson's Andris Gudins 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 in the semifinals before defeating teammate
Alex Makatsaria 6-3, 6-1 to win the title. Makatsaria defeated Fairleigh Dickinson's Niclas Pietsch in a great three-set match 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 in the quarterfinals and Maximillian Grundmann 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals before falling to Hansch Mauritzson in the finals.
In B doubles, Duka and Segarra defeated Concordia's Tomer Mendler and Lars Olson 6-2 in the quarterfinals and FDU's Solans Diaz and Moric Budinszky 6-4 in the semifinals before taking down FDU's Ryu Kozuki and Maciej Autuch 6-3 in the finals.
In A singles play,
Max Green defeated Concordia's William Nilsson in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to La Salle's Francesco Mowrey 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals.
In C singles,
Jeremy Chung defeated Concordia's Joseph Queralt 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 16 before falling to FDU's Ryu Kozuki 2-6, 7-6, 10-7 in the quarterfinals.
In A doubles, Green and
Finn Kemper defeated Concordia's Eymeric Chevalier and Henry Masters 7-5 in the quarterfinals before falling to Fairleigh Dickinson's Pietsch and Eduardo Cabral 6-3 in the semifinals.
In consolation play, Duka defeated La Salle's Colin Lucius 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 and Segarra bested Concordia's Nicolas Sitaras 6-1, 6-1.
The Rams return to action October 11-14 at the ITA Regionals, hosted by Princeton.
