Bronx, N.Y. – (October 4, 2018) – In a match-up for first place in the Atlantic 10 women's soccer standings, the Fordham Rams and Massachusetts Minutewomen played to a hard fought 1-1 double-overtime draw at Jack Coffey Field on Thursday night.
With the draw, Fordham moved to 7-5-1 on the year, 4-0-1 in the Atlantic 10, while UMass is now 9-2-1 overall, 4-0-1 in the league. Fordham is now unbeaten in its last seven contests (6-0-1), the longest streak for the Rams since 2003, where the team had a nine-game unbeaten run (7-0-2).
After a scoreless first half, Fordham opened the scoring in the 64
th minute, as
Margaret Roughley chipped a pass forward to
Amanda Miller for a semi-breakaway down the center of the field. Miller would chip a shot over the drawn out goalkeeper into the left side of the net for her second goal of the season.
The score stayed that way until the 87
th minute, when the Minutewomen were able to find the equalizer. Lauren Bonavita played a long ball forward that bounced to Erin Doster on the run. After a touch, Doster put a shot just under the crossbar from about 26 yards out for her fourth of the season.

UMass then had one more chance in regulation on a shot by Kelly Marra in the 89
th minute, but Fordham's
Kelly LaMorte came up with the stop to push the game into overtime.
Each team had chances in overtime with the best opportunity coming off a Fordham corner kick in the 106
th minute.
Morgan Busacca played the corner into a scrum in front of goal, where
Brooke Salmon eventually got a header toward goal, but it was grabbed by UMass' Peyton Ryan for the save and the 1-1 draw.
In net, LaMorte made three saves for Fordham, while Ryan had four stops for the Minutewomen.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 7
th, as the Rams travel to St. Bonaventure for a 1:00 PM start.
