Philadelphia, Pa. – (October 27, 2018) – Saint Joseph's Taylor Ryan netted a first half goal, while Morgan Bower scored early in the second half, as the third-seeded Hawks topped the sixth-seeded Fordham Rams, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship, held at Sweeney Field in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Hawks got on the board in the 15th minute, as Paige Bergman's free kick found Taylor Ryan, who angled a header inside the left post for her third goal of the season.

Saint Joseph's then added to the lead with a goal in the 49th minute.  Morgan Bower scored her seventh goal of the season on a shot from the left side that found the far right side of the goal for a 2-0 lead.

Fordham then did everything to get forward to try and cut into the deficit.  First, a shot by Claudia Cuicani from distance was stopped near the right post by Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Grace Bendon.

Then, Amanda Miller had the best chance for the Rams in the 51st minute, as she lobbed a shot that hit the crossbar but deflected away from the goal.

Fordham continued to press, getting a corner kick in the 53rd minute, which found the head of Brooke Salmon, but her header went right into the chest of Bendon for a save.  Unfortunately for the Rams, that was the final shot on goal, as the remaining five Fordham shots in the contest all went wide of goal.

Bendon finished with two saves for the Hawks, while Fordham's Kelly LaMorte had four stops.

The loss ends Fordham's season at 9-9-1 overall, while Saint Joseph's advances to the Atlantic 10 semifinal in Dayton, Ohio.
