Philadelphia, Pa. – (October 27, 2018) - Behind a pair of goals from Janos Loebe and one from Sameer Fathazada, the Fordham men's soccer team moved closer to clinching a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship, posting a 3-0 win over the La Salle Explorers at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa.
With the win, Fordham improved to 8-3-4 overall, 4-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle ended their season at 3-11-3, 0-5-3 in the conference.
The Rams struck first in the game in the 25th minute, as Janos Loebe got a cross in to Sameer Fathazada, who finished into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season.
Loebe then found the back of the net in the 40th minute to give Fordham a 2-0 lead, as he picked the top right corner. It was his sixth goal of the season.
Fordham then capped the win in the 90th minute, as the Rams were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Loebe then stepped to the penalty spot and scored his second goal of the game and seventh of the year and the 3-0 win.
In net, Rashid Nuhu had only one save in the game, recording his third straight shutout and sixth of the season.
The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Wednesday, October 31, as the Rams host Dayton for Senior Night, starting at 7:00 PM at Jack Coffey Field.
