Bronx, N.Y. – (October 13, 2018) – UMass' DeAndrae Brown netted his eighth goal of the season, while Marvyn Dorchin made six saves, as the Minutemen topped the Fordham Rams, 1-0, in men's soccer action on Saturday at Jack Coffey Field.
With the loss, Fordham is now 6-3-3 on the year, 2-2 in the Atlantic 10, while UMass improved to 6-6-3 overall, 2-3 in the league.
Fordham had some early pressure, creating two good chances in the first 15 minutes. Off a
Janos Loebe corner kick in the third minute,
Joergen Oland had a header toward goal which was stopped, while in the 15
th minute,
Vincenzo Zuccala had a diving header attempt at the UMass net, which again was denied by UMass goalkeeper Marvyn Dorchin.
Neither team could crack the scoreboard until the 54
th minute, when the Minutemen broke through with the only goal of the game. After a cross in, Jack Fulton had his shot blocked in front, but the ball came right to DeAndrae Brown for the rebound goal from seven yards out. It was his eighth of the year.
Fordham would have four shots on goal the rest of the game, trying to find the equalizer, but all four were stopped by Dorchin for the 1-0 shutout.
The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Wednesday, October 17
th, when the Rams hos George Washington at Jack Coffey, beginning at 7:00 PM.
