Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2017-2018 Atlantic 10 season, the 115th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by hosting the Davidson College Wildcats in the historic Rose Hill Gym on Sunday, January 14, at 3:00 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network with Rich Lerner (p-b-p) and Jordan Cornette (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and
www.wfuvsports.org with James Corrigan (p-b-p) and Vinny DeBellis (color) announcing.
Fordham enters the game with a 6-10 overall record, 1-3 in the Atlantic 10, after a 77-61 A-10 loss at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday night while Davidson is 8-7 overall, 3-1 in the conference, after a 72-45 A-10 win over George Washington at Davidson on Wednesday night.
Sunday afternoon's contest will be the sixth meeting between Fordham and Davidson on the hardwood with the Wildcats, who took the first two meetings, leading the all-time series, 3-2. The two teams split a pair of games last year with the Rams winning, 60-54, at Davidson on January 11 as
Javontae Hawkins scored 17 points and added nine rebounds and
Antwoine Anderson added 15 points and four assists, and the Wildcats winning, 84-66, on January 28 in the Rose Hill Gym behind 28 points apiece from Jack Gibbs and Peyton Aldridge.
Notes
• Senior guard
Will Tavares, who leads the Rams in scoring (15.5 ppg), has scored in double figures in 14 of the 15 games he has played in this year (Tavares missed the St. Bonaventure game with an injury). He is currently 15th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring.
• Junior guard
Joseph Chartouny leads the NCAA this year in steals/game with 3.69.
• Chartouny has 209 career steals, good for fifth on the Fordham all-time list.
• Chartouny has 371 career helpers, eighth-best in school history.
• Junior guard
David Pekárek, filling in for an injured
Will Tavares at St. Bonaventure, recorded his first career double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds against the Bonnies.
• The ten rebounds was a career-high while the 16 points was a season-high, and three shy of his career-best.
• He also matched his career-high with four three-pointers made.
• The 2017-2018 Rams are fourth the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense (67.8) and are fourth in the league in three-point field goal percentage defense (.317).
• Fordham also leads the league in steals with 171 (10.7/game).
