Fairfax, Va. – (March 25, 2017) – George Mason's Greg Popatak and Brady Acker both homered, while Alejandro Aponte had a pair of RBI, as the Patriots topped the Fordham Rams, 8-4, in game two of their baseball series at Spuhler Field in Fairfax, Va.
 
With the loss, Fordham falls to 7-11 on the season, 0-2 in the Atlantic 10, while George Mason improved to 9-13 overall, 2-0 in the league.
 
After a scoreless first inning, George Mason jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the third inning, picking up a two-run double by Alejandro Aponte in the second and a three-run home run by Greg Popatak in the third.
 
Fordham struck back with a pair of runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-2.  
Jason Lundy led off the inning with a solo home run to left center, his second of the season.  
Billy Godrick then singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and eventually scored on a single by 
Reiss Knehr.
 
The Patriots got both of those runs back in the bottom of the frame on RBI-singles by John Callahan and Michael Smith.
 
The Rams once again got within three at 7-4 in the top of the seventh inning.  Godrick and 
Matthew Kozuch started the inning with back-to-back singles with both scoring on a two-run double from 
Justin Bardwell.
 Shane McDonald tied a career-high with five strikeouts on Saturday.

George Mason though scored once in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run by Brady Acker to close out the scoring.
 
For Fordham, Godrick led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Kozuch and Knehr each had a pair of hits.  
Mike Cowell (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in 2.1 innings of work.  
Marc Bisogno also threw 2.1 innings, giving up two runs on six hits with two strikeouts, while 
Shane McDonald tied his career-high with five strikeouts over three innings of relief.
 
The same two teams will match-up for the final game of this series on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
