Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham volleyball programmed honored its five seniors in a prematch ceremony on Friday night before the team's final home match of the regular season. Rhode Island walked away with the result, however, in straight sets, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20. With the loss, Fordham falls to 12-12 overall and 4-7 in conference action, while Rhody improves to 10-13 and 5-6, respectively.

The loss moves Rhode Island up to fifth place and Fordham down to sixth, regardless of George Washington's result on Friday. The Rams will now finish their regular season with three road matches. The top six schools in the conference advance to the A-10 Championship.

The visiting Rams used runs in the middle of the first two sets to pull away and overcame a Fordham lead in the third frame to take the match.

Olivia Fairchild led all players with 16 kills, adding six digs, three blocks, and an ace, the latter giving her 56 on the season to keep her atop the Division I ranks. Rhode Island freshman Live Lunde Fossdal led her squad with 12 on .524 hitting. Olivia LaPorta was next with seven kills and McKenna Lahr with six.

Lahr finished with a team-high 15 digs, one shy of her season-high, while Maddy Walsh notched 32 assists. Nicole Freeley tallied three blocks, as well, with the team's lone solo swat. Grace Muller totaled three digs and a pair of aces.

Prior to the match, the program, family, friends, and fans in attendance honored the team's five seniors: Clarissa Cartledge, Emily Fronk, Freeley, Muller, and Molly Oshinski.

Fordham first travels to Saint Louis next Friday night at 7 p.m. EST, before heading to Dayton two days later for a 1 p.m. contest.
