Box Score (pdf)

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham volleyball team picked up a straight-set sweep on the road on Friday night, dropping La Salle to improve to 11-9 on the year and 3-4 in conference play. The Explorers, meanwhile, fall to 10-12 and 1-6.

Olivia Fairchild made an impact in all facets of the match, double-doubling with 10 kills and 10 digs, and contributing five more kills and four blocks. Fairchild came into the match leading the country in aces, with 46, and looks to have held onto her spot heading into Sunday. Sophomore Elise Benjamin continued her solid play since returning from injury, pouring in a career-high 12 kills, at a .556 clip, and adding three blocks.

The Rams eased to a 25-19 first set victory and held a similar lead in set two in the early going before the hosts rallied. The two schools exchanged points for the rest of the frame, down to the final points, which Fordham took late, 29-27. The Explorers started off hot in the third set but the Rams battled back and coasted to a 25-17 win.

In attack, the aforementioned duo were helped by 15 total kills and 15 digs by Kaitlin Morley and McKenna Lahr, plus five kills from Olivia LaPorta. The latter also stuffed four La Salle attacks, making it eight matches in her last nine that she's tallied at least three. Maddy Walsh made 38 assists and added four digs, while Morgan Williams led the way with 12 digs.

Fordham continues on its brief road swing to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Rams will return to the Bronx for their final three home matches of the regular season after that.
