Women’s Soccer Draws with Davidson, 0-0

Rams and Wildcats Are Fit to be Tied in Scoreless Draw

Bronx, N.Y. – For the second straight week and the third time this season, the Fordham women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw over 110 minutes of action, tying the Davidson Wildcats at Jack Coffey Field on Thursday night.

The tie puts Fordham at 5-6-5 on the year, 2-3-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Davidson is now 2-13-1 on the year, 0-6-1 in the league.

Fordham goalkeeper Kelly LaMorte was tested early in the first half by Davidson's leading scorer Allison Gray on a shot from 20 yards out.  LaMorte was able to stop and smother that effort and later in the half, Seeley Yoo had a shot from distance as well that LaMorte was able to catch and handle.

Davidson goalkeeper Becca Ravitz also registered two saves in the opening half, but had to be aware often in the second half.  In the 58th minute, Emma Johnson took a shot from distance for Fordham that deflected off a Davidson defender and had to be punched over the crossbar by Ravitz.

A few minutes later, Ravitz was tested by Morgan Busacca from about 18 yards, but Ravitz was up to the task making the save to her right.

The game remained scoreless, leading to a pair of overtime sessions with Fordham having the best chance in the waning moments.  Milan Bornstein got loose on the left side in the 108th minute, and cut back to the box.  She took a right-footed shot and rung the shot off the crossbar and out, leaving the game as a scoreless draw.

In net, LaMorte made two saves to record her second shutout of the season, while Ravitz had seven stops for the Wildcats.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 15th, when the Rams travel to Philadelphia to face the La Salle Explorers at 1:00 PM.
