Kingston, R.I. – Atlantic 10 action kicked off on Thursday night across the league with the Fordham women's soccer team up in Kingston, Rhode Island to face the Rhode Island Rams. The game was a hard fought one, as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw at the URI Soccer Complex.
With the tie, Fordham moves to 5-3-2 overall, while Rhode Island is now 3-3-3.
Rhode Island got on the board first in the 40
th minute of action. Donika Murray took advantage of a Fordham turnover and scored her first of the season into the left side of goal.
Fordham then knotted the game at one in the 57
th minute.
Nicol Natale went on a deep run into the Rhode Island defense. She then crossed the ball back toward the top of the box to
Brooke Salmon. Salmon connected on a shot into the upper right part of the goal for her third goal of the season, which is now tied for the team lead.
Adaeze Obinelo made a career-high eight saves on Thursday.
From there, the defenses and goalkeepers took over, holding the score at 1-1 for the remainder of the game.
