Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team earned a 4-3 victory over Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph's at the Hawthorn/Rooney tennis courts on Sunday afternoon to push its season record to 9-4 on the season. The Hawks fall to 6-13 with the result.

The day came down to the penultimate match in #6 singles where Fordham's
Gianna Insogna clinched with a gritty three-set victory.

The Hawks claimed the doubles point in the third and final bout to start the afternoon. Kristina Eisenbrand and Sarah Contrata combined for a 6-0 shutout of Insogna and
Whitney Weisberg, before the duo of
Mayu Sato and
Estelle Wong dropped Claire Minnoe and Alex Zachem, 6-4. Sibling pairing Anne Marie and Maureen Devlin grinded out a 7-6 (7-4) set to clinch the point over
Alexis Zobeideh and
Destiny Grunin.

In singles play, the Rams stormed back with three straight victories to draw within a point from the overall win. Zobeideh's 6-2, 6-2 win over Eisenbrand got things started and the freshman was followed by Sato's 6-1, 6-3 win over Minnoe and Wong's 6-3, 6-3 win over Maureen Devlin. The Hawks got one back through Arianne Polatnick's 6-2, 6-0 victory over Weisberg, but Insogna won it with a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 result over Anne Marie Devlin. Elsewhere, Zachem grinded out a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-6) victory over Grunin.

The Rams are in the midst of four straight home matches and next host St. John's on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. Fordham will host NYIT and Massachusetts this weekend before closing out the season at Queens College.
