Saint Peter's John Leiter tossed a complete game, two-hitter with eight strikeouts, while Jon Kristoffersen hit a solo home run, as the Peacocks shut out the Fordham Rams, 2-0, at Houlihan Park on Saturday afternoon.
Â
With the loss, Fordham falls to 4-9 overall, while Saint Peter's improved to 2-7.
Â
The only two runs of the game came in the top of the fourth inning. Jon Kristofferson led off the inning with a solo home run to right center, his fourth of the season. Jason Midkiff then connected on a ground-rule double to left, followed by a single up the middle by Mike Ionta. After a strikeout, James Spadaccini singled through the left side, scoring Midkiff from third.
Â
The Peacocks looked to add more in the seventh, loading the bases on two infield singles and a fielder's choice. Fordham starter
Joseph Serrapica then anchored down, getting a shallow fly out and a 1-2-3 ground ball double play to keep the Rams' deficit at 2-0.
Ian EdmistonÂ
The Rams however could not get anything going against Saint Peter's starter John Leiter, as just five Rams reached base. The best opportunity for Fordham came in the bottom of the third, as
Ian Edmiston doubled to left center and
Jason Lundy reached on an error to put runners at first and third with one out. However, Leiter got a pair of ground outs to end the threat.
Â
Leiter's performance overshadowed a great performance by Fordham's Serrapica, who fell to 0-4 on the season. Serrapica struck out a career-high 10 batters over seven innings of work, giving up two runs and scattering nine hits.Â
Kirk Haynes, Jr. and
Anthony DiMeglio closed out the pitching performance for the Rams, pitching two hitless innings of relief with DiMeglio posting a pair of strikeouts in his one inning of work.
Â
Besides the Edmiston double,
Joseph Runco had the only other hit in the game, which came in the sixth inning. Following that hit, Runco added a stolen base, the 75
th of his career, moving him into sole possession of fourth place on Fordham's career stolen base list, passing Anthony Vega (1998-2001) and Santy Gallone (1989-92).

The Rams wrap up their four-game homestand on Sunday with a 1:00 PM contest against Stony Brook at Houlihan Park.
