Justin Bardwell, Villanova's Hunter Schryver struck out nine batters over six innings to lead the Wildcats to an 11-3 victory over the Rams at Houlihan Park on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 4-8 on the year, while Villanova improved to 5-9.

The Rams got off on the right foot in the bottom of the first inning, when
Ryan McNally laced a low line drive to center. Villanova centerfielder David Gulati dove to try and catch the ball, but the ball got by him and went all the way to wall. McNally circled the bases and beat the throw home for an inside-the-park home run, his third round-tripper of the year.

Villanova answered back with a home run of its own in the third inning, taking a 2-1 lead. Todd Czinege connected on a two-run home run to right, his fourth of the season.

The Wildcats then scored twice in the fourth and five times in the fifth to extend the lead to 9-1. Villanova was aided by three Fordham errors over those two innings, and got a two-run double by Emmanuel Morris and a two-run triple by Gulati to highlight the scoring.

Fordham got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, as
Justin Bardwell hit a solo home run to right for his first career home run, making it, 9-2.

The Wildcats tacked on two more runs in the sixth, while Fordham picked up an RBI-single by
Reiss Knehr in the ninth inning for the 11-3 final score.

For Fordham,
Greg Weissert (0-2) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work. Six other pitchers saw action for the Rams on Friday. At the plate, McNally was 2-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base, while Bardwell was 2-for-3 with a home run.

The Rams continue their homestand on Saturday with a 1:00 PM game against Saint Peter's.
