Box ScoreThe Fordham squash team opened play in the Chaffee Cup Division at the 2016 CSA Team Championship on Friday, as the Rams took on Haverford in New Haven, Connecticut. Though the Rams got out to some early success, Fordham fell to Haverford by an 8-1 score.
With the loss, Fordham is now 8-8 on the year.
Fordham started out well, as
Kincade Webster won his match at the #1 slot over Haverford's Nate Vestrich-Shade in four games, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, and 14-12.
Jeremy Keller,
Robert Levis, and
Paul Monaghan also got off on the right foot in their matches at the #2, #8, and #9 slots, respectively, as each won the opening game. However, Haverford bounced back to win all of those matches in four games.
Keller fell to Peter Dudley, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5, and 11-9, while Levis was downed by Ryan Dukarm, 0-11, 11-9, 12-10, and 11-7. Monaghan lost to Alexander Liu, 6-11, 11-6, 11-5, and 11-5.
Haverford then clinched the match with 3-0 wins at the third through sixth slots to win by an 8-1 count.
The Rams now move into the consolation bracket of the Chaffee Cup, where they will meet the University of Chicago on Saturday at 9:00 AM. That match will be held at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
