Â
"We did some really good things today. We passed solidly and dug the ball well," head coach
Gini Ullery said, "However, we struggled with terminating against one block and that really hurt us."
Â
Fordham and La Salle exchanged sets before the hosts rallied in the fifth set to take the match and gain their first conference victory of the season. The Rams have now dropped four straight after starting league play at 3-1.
Â
The Rams hit just .176 as a team, making 32 errors, but Fairchild was dominant in attack today, besting her previous career-best by 10 kills and coming within two of tying Val Bosticco's long-held school record of 36 kills in a single match, set in 1990. The freshman was efficient to boot, hitting at a .347 clip, and notching 12 digs, as well, for her ninth double-double of the year. The Phoenix native now has 401 kills on the season, the eighth Ram in program history to reach the mark in a single season.
Â
Kristen Ostach and
Kaitlin Morley each finished with seven kills, with the latter also tallying a career-high 13 digs and adding three aces. Sophomore
Maddy Walsh racked up 52 assists to pair with career-highs of 14 digs and three total blocks. Freshman libero
Morgan Williams tallied 21 digs.
