BRONX, N.Y. -- Behind the arm and bat of redshirt junior Rachel Gillen, the Fordham softball team completed the three-game sweep of Saint Joseph's Sunday at Bahoshy Field, as the Rams blanked the Hawks for the third game in a row, 4-0, while outscoring the visitors 20-0 over the three-game sample. With the victory, Fordham improves to 25-17 (11-5 A10) on the season, while SJU falls to 21-15 (6-8 A10) overall.

Gillen (17-8) was fantastic in the circle, yielding just two hits and three walks to go along with eight strikeouts in her 13th complete game and fifth shutout of the season. She also extended her hit streak to 16 games when she connected for a two-run home run over the left-center field fence, which extended the Rams' lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth. The long ball was her fourth of the season and also scored senior Kayla Lombardo.

Lombardo gave Fordham all the runs it would need in the bottom of the first when she drove home freshman Morgan Figueora with a RBI groundout. The Rams added another run in the bottom of the fifth when senior Michele Daubman scored on sophomore Sydney Canessa's RBI groundout.

Both sides combined to collect six hits, with each side making great defensive plays as well. Sophomore Lindsay Mayer was robbed of a home run in the bottom of the third after the Hawks' Madeline Brunck made an incredible catch in right field.

Anna Lauterbach (1-4) also went the distance in the loss, as she allowed four earned runs on four hits, walked three and whiffed one.

Fordham returns to action this Wednesday, April 22 when it travels to Hempstead, N.Y. to take on Hofstra for a 4 p.m. contest.
