Pinch-hitter Matthieu Robert knocked in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning, while Eddie Muhl pitched a scoreless ninth, as the George Washington Colonials denied the Fordham Rams of a series sweep, 2-1, at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Virginia.

Fordham opened the scoring in the second, when
Ian Edmiston doubled to left, moved to third on a fly out, and scored on a single by
Joseph DeVito.
Â
The Rams thought they had a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning. DeVito connected on a two-out double to right center, which was followed by a single to center by
Jason Lundy, but the umpire called DeVito out at the plate on the throw from centerfield.
Â
The Colonials then knotted the game at one in the bottom of the seventh. After a single and a sacrifice bunt, Andrew Selby singled to right, scoring Bobby Campbell. On the play,
Mark Donadio overran the ball, allowing Selby to reach third, which ended Fordham starter
Ben Greenberg's day. Reliever
Joseph Serrapica ended the Colonial rally with back-to-back strikeouts to keep the game tied at one.

The Rams threatened to tie the game in the ninth, as Edmiston lined a single up the middle to leadoff the frame, followed by a sacrifice bunt by
Ryan McNally. DeVito then hit a hot shot to the left side, but Cody Bryant, a defensive replacement in the ninth, made a diving stab and throw to get DeVito at first for the second out. Lundy then grounded out to second to end the game.
Â
Serrapica (1-1) took the loss, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings of relief. Greenberg went the first 6.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits with three strikeouts.
