* Fordham freshman forward Christian Sengfelder was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, and the fourth time overall this season, on Monday. He averaged 13.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg in two games last week for the Rams, including recording his second double-double of the year, scoring 12 points and adding ten rebounds in a loss at Richmond on Wednesday night. He followed that with a 15-point, nine-rebound effort in a 69-55 win over Saint Joseph's on Sunday in the Rose Hill Gym, shooting 6-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from behind the arc.

* Fordham freshmen Eric Paschall and Chris Sengfelder are the only set of freshman teammates to be averaging more than 10.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Paschall is third in the Atlantic 10 in scoring with a 17.3 ppg average while also pulling down 5.5 rpg, while Sengfelder is averaging 11.1 ppg and 7.2 rpg. The only other freshman combo that was averaging 10.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg earlier this year were Purdue's Isaac Haas and Vince Edwards but Haas is now averaging 8.2 ppg and 3.8 rpg while Edwards is averaging 9.6 ppg and 4.8 rpg.

* The 2014-2015 Fordham men's basketball squad is becoming adept at taking away the ball. Through games of February 15, the Rams are fourth in the Atlantic 10, averaging 6.8 steals/game, including a season-high eleven in the South Carolina State game on Dec. 31. Junior Mandell Thomas leads the Rams with 50 steals, ranking second in the conference (2.2/game).

* Through games of February 15, the Fordham Rams have the Atlantic 10's third leading scorer, and top freshman scorer, in freshman guard Eric Paschall (17.3 ppg) while Mandell Thomas is second in the conference in steals (2.2/game). The Rams also have the third leading rebounder in junior forward Ryan Rhoomes (9.1 rpg) while Rhoomes is also seventh in the conference in blocked shots, averaging 1.4/game, and Thomas is seventh in assists with a 3.4 apg average.

apropos of nothing: George Mason was born in Fairfax, Virginia, and led Virginia patriots during the American Revolution. He was also a Virginia delegate (George Washington and James Madison were others) to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. However, he did not agree with final draft of the U.S. Constitution and did not sign it. Mason was concerned with the rights given to the federal government and his dissent led to the Bill of Rights and he, along with James Madison, is known as the "Fathers of the Bill of Rights."
