LAS VEGAS -- The Fordham women's basketball team was defeated by Texas Tech, 62-48, Friday to begin the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout inside the South Point Arena. With the loss, the Rams fall to 2-2 on the season, while the Lady Raiders improve to 4-0 overall.

Danielle Burns led the Rams with 10 points and a game-high three steals, which tied a career high, while sophomore
Asnate Fomina added nine points, five rebounds to tie a career high and a team-best two assists. Sophomore
G'mrice Davis grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, and senior
Samantha Clark corralled eight before fouling out.

Hannah Missry knocked down a jumper to start an 8-2 run, as freshman
Alexia Douglas' jumper brought the Rams to within four at 52-48 with 5:37 to go. However, Fordham was unable to score the rest of the way, and the Lady Raiders used a 10-0 run to close out the game.
The Rams trailed 18-6 after the first quarter, but bounced back in the second by outscoring the Lady Raiders, 24-16, to trail at the half, 34-30. During the quarter, a Missry three capped a 14-4 spurt that crept Fordham to within two at 22-20 with 4:39 left before halftime. After Texas Tech increased its advantage back out to seven, the Rams cut the deficit to two twice, with the last time coming at 32-30 when Clark scored on a jumper with 22 seconds remaining. However, the Lady Raiders scored right before the half to take a four-point lead.
Texas Tech stretched its lead out to eight in the third quarter, and Fordham crawled back to within four at 42-38 when Clark scored on a layup halfway through the stanza. But the Lady Raiders answered and extended the lead back out to eight at 48-40 to end the quarter before pulling away over the final five minutes.
The Rams finished the game shooting 33.9 percent (20-of-59) and connected on only 6-of-22 from downtown and 2-of-6 at the free throw line. Texas Tech, who scored at least 79 points in its first three games, shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the field, 4-of-13 from three-point range and just 6-of-14 from the charity stripe. But the Lady Raiders used their size to outscore the Rams, 30-16 in the paint, and outrebound them, 45-33. Both sides so also turned it over 16 times, but Texas Tech recorded a 19-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
Dayo Olabode came off the bench to lead the Lady Raiders with 19 points and nine rebounds. Japreece Dean added 14 points and five boards, while Rayven Brooks dished out seven assists.
Fordham returns to action Saturday when it takes on #23/RV Syracuse at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout.
