Volleyball Drops Opener at Seton Hall Classic

Rams Face Dartmouth and Middle Tennessee State on Saturday

Behind nine kills and eight blocks by Amanda Hansen, the Seton Hall Pirates topped the Fordham Rams in three sets in the opening match of the Seton Hall Volleyball Classic in South Orange, N.J.

Final set scores were 25-19, 25-22, and 25-13.

The loss drops Fordham to 0-11 on the year, while the Pirates improved to 8-3.

The first set was a highly competitive game with eight tie scores.  The Rams would take a two-point lead, 17-15, on a kill by Lisa Hipp and an attack error by the Pirates.  Seton Hall would then reel off nine of the next ten points to earn set point at 24-18.  The Rams fended off the first set point on a kill by Brennan Delsing, but a service error would give the Pirates the opening stanza.

It was another hotly contest set in the second game, featuring six tie scores.  Fordham would build a three-point lead at 17-14, but after a timeout by Seton Hall, the Pirates rallied for seven consecutive points to take a 21-17 lead.  The Rams would get back within two on multiple occasions but couldn't close the gap any further, falling 25-22.

In set three, an early 11-2 surge by Seton Hall put the match out of reach for the Rams, dropping the final set, 25-13.

For Fordham, Delsing notched nine kills and five digs, while Hipp had eight kills, five digs, and three blocks.  Abigail Konovodoff dished out 23 assists to go with six digs and three kills with Grace Muller having 14 digs and two assists.
