The Rams used a stellar first half shooting performance to down Saint Louis on Wednesday night, converting at a 62 percent clip from beyond the arc to aid in a 56-45 victory at Chaifetz Arena.

Erin Rooney tallied 15 points, nine assists and five rebounds to lead the Rams (18-5, 7-3 A-10), while
Samantha Clark scored all 14 of her points in the first half. The Neptune, N.J., native shot 4-5 from beyond the arc in the opening stanza.

Abigail Corning chipped in nine points to help the Rams, while
Mary Nwachukwu added seven and
Emily Tapio scored six.

The Billikens got on the board first in the opening half, but the Rams quickly unleashed a three-point barrage, sinking four of their first five attempts to jump ahead 12-6 just over five minutes into the action.

After Denisha Womack connected on a three-pointer to move Saint Louis (8-14, 3-6 A-10) within three at 12-9, the Rams uncorked a 10-0 run over the next 2:22, as Clark and Rooney each poured in five points to open up the lead near the 12 minute mark of the half.

Fordham continued to drain from beyond the arc, hitting seven of their first ten attempts from downtown to grab a 35-13 lead with six and a half minutes remaining until the break.

The Rams saw the Billikens narrow the deficit during the half's closing minutes, as Fordham entered the locker room with a 42-25 advantage.

Clark led the Rams with 14 points at the break, while Rooney added 12 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Corning also chipped in nine first half points.

As prolific as the Rams were in the first half, they were just the opposite to begin the latter stanza. Fordham connected on just one of its first 18 field goal attempts, allowing Saint Louis to crawl within 11, 46-35, with 9:11 left on the clock.Â

The Billikens outscored the Rams 5-1 over the next few minutes, closing the gap to seven points with just under six minutes to go. But Fordham finally got some shots to fall, bumping the lead back to double digits and eventually closing the game 56-45.
