Rams Face Crucial Match Up with The Dukes

As four teams in the Atlantic 10 enter the weekend with a 9-4 record in conference, the Rams travel to Pittsburgh for a crucial Saturday night match up against Duquesne.

Duquesne is not one of those four teams at 9-4, but with an 8-5 mark and an early season wins against the Rams in their pocket, the Dukes could be poised to make a run at the first round Atlantic 10 Championship bye as well.

SERIES HISTORY: Fordham has not fared well in its series  history with the Dukes, winning just four games in 21 attempts against their Atlantic 10 foes from the Steel City.

While the Rams have turned their luck against several A-10 opponents in the past two seasons, Duquesne has managed to escape the maroon tide, winning its last seven contests with Fordham dating back to 2007.  Alongside Dayton, Duquesne is one of only two schools that the Rams have not bested under the brief, yet wildfully successful tenure of Coach Stephanie Gaitley.

Earlier this season, the Dukes withstood a second half surge from the Rams to escape the Rose Hill Gym with a 65-61 victory.  Duquesne had led by as 19 with under ten minutes to go in the second half.

SCOUTING DUQUESNE:  Duquesne welcomes the Rams to the A.J. Palumbo Center on the heels of a 61-59 loss at Saint Joseph's, a game that went down to the final seconds.  That game followed another close lose against a premier Atlantic 10 team for the Dukes, a 63-62 defeat at St. Bonaventure on February 15th.

On the season, Preseason First Team All-Conference selection Wumi Agunbiade and Valparaiso transfer Raegan Moore have done a lion's share of the scoring for the Dukes, pouring in 15.6 and 15.5 points per game, respectively.  Agunbiade is also the team's leading rebounder at 7.7 per game. Sophomore guard April Robinson is also averaging in double figures for the Dukes at 11.4 points per outing.

As a team, the Dukes are scoring over 71 points per game, good enough for fifth in the league, and shooting 42 percent from the floor.
