Rhode Island's Franki Darnold notched a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs, as URI topped the Fordham Rams in three sets in Kingston, R.I. Final set scores were 25-15, 27-25, and 25-22.
With the win, Rhode Island improved to 17-8 overall, 8-4 in the Atlantic 10, while Fordham dropped to 2-24 on the year, 2-10 in the league.
After a ten-point loss in set one, Fordham got things going in set two, getting out to a 13-3 lead, which was capped by a
Gabriela Cinkova service ace. Rhode Island fought back to knot the score at 25 all, and then got back-to-back kills by Franki Arnold to win the set, 27-25.
In set three with the score tied at 21, Rhode Island earned two points to go ahead, 23-21, and then finished off the match with two more kills by Arnold.
For Fordham,
Brianna O'Neil had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs, while
Abigail Konovodoff had 30 assists, nine digs, and five kills.
Molly Oshinski almost had a double-double with nine kills and eight digs with
Chandler Moore having six kills.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Friday, November 14
th, when the Rams host George Washington at 4:00 PM.
