Chandler Moore and
Lisa Hipp, would have big nights, as the Rams closed out the 2014 season with a 3-1 win over George Mason. Final set scores were 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, and 25-21.
The win closes out Fordham's season at 3-25 overall, 3-11 in the Atlantic 10, while George Mason ended their season at 6-21, 2-12 in the league.
Fordham came out pistols blazing in the first set, as the Rams scored the first six points of the match and never looked back in an eight-point win. Fordham hit a whopping .517 as a team led by
Chandler Moore's five kills and two blocks.
Chandler MooreThe second set was a seesaw affair with ten tie score and six lead changes. The last tie score was at 18 all with the Patriots then scoring four of the next five points to lead, 22-19. Fordham got back within one, 22-21 on consecutive kills by
Brianna O'Neil and
Sarah Skelton, but the Patriots closed the set with the final three points to win, 25-21.
Set three turned out much like the first. Fordham bolted out to a 7-0 lead, highlighted by two kills from
Lisa Hipp. The Patriots fought back within two points on a couple of occasions but the Rams never relinquished the lead, winning by four points.
In the fourth set, Fordham got the lead early and never gave it up.
Brennan Delsing had six kills in the final set which the Rams won by four, 25-21.
For Fordham, Moore set career-highs with 15 kills, five blocks, and a .609 hitting percentage, while
Lisa Hipp had her fourth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs. She finishes her career with 1,221 kills, which ranks in the top five all-time at Fordham. O'Neil recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 12 kills and 10 digs with
Abigail Konovodoff posting a career-high 51 assists to go with six kills, eight digs, and four blocks.
