The Fordham volleyball team looked for its second straight win on Tuesday night, as the Rams traveled to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to meet the Lehigh Mountainhawks. The Rams however could not find the same success as they did on Saturday, falling to Lehigh in straight sets.
Final set scores were 25-16, 25-16, and 25-19. With the loss, Fordham dropped to 1-17 overall, while Lehigh improved to 12-8.
The first set was tight, seeing nine tie scores, the last at 12 all. Lehigh then put together a 7-1 run, highlighted by three kills from Jade Van Streepen, to take a 19-13 lead. The Mountainhawks then closed the set on a 6-1 run to win the opening stanza, 25-16.
In set two, Fordham was within two points, 10-8, after a kill by
Lisa Hipp. Lehigh though would again go on a big run, scoring nine of the next ten points to lead 19-9, and eventually take the set, 25-16.
The Rams would make the third set a little closer, but could not overcome a seven-point deficit, falling 25-19.
For Fordham, Hipp had a team-high eight kills to go with six digs, while
Abigail Konovodoff had 13 assists and eight digs.
Molly Oshinski is her first action as a Ram had five kills and five digs.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, October 11
th, when the Rams host Rhode Island at 5:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
