The Rose Hill Gym opens its doors for a rare midweek afternoon game on Wednesday, as Fordham takes on Rhode Island for Field Trip Day.  Thousands of local schoolchildren will pack the oldest Division I facility in the country, cheering on Fordham in the Battle of the Rams.

SERIES HISTORY: This year's edition of Fordham Rhode-Island will be the 32nd all-time, with Rhode Island holding a 18-13 advantage over the Rams from Rose Hill.  Fordham has enjoyed some recent success in the series history; however, coming out on top in the last four decisions between the two squads.

Last season, Fordham traveled URI and defeated the Rams 51-42 in the Ryan Center, shooting 50 percent from three (10-20) despite shooting just 25 percent (16-63) overall.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND:  The Rams from Kingston have been struggling so far in 2013-2014, entering Wednesday afternoon's matchup with a 6-14 mark overall and a 1-6 record in the Atlantic 10.

Despite sporting the second ranked scoring defenses in the A-10, Rhode Island has failed to couple their defensive acumen with any offensive prowess, scoring just 54.2 points per game (last in the conference).

The Rams feature two scorers that average double figures, led by  sophomore guard Tayra Melendez at 13.1 points per outing.  Senior guard Kerry Wallack is right behind Melendez, registering 10.1 points and a team best eigth rebounds per game.

One area in which Rhode Island has excelled this year has been on the glass, out rebounding their opponents by over three boards per game.
