In addition to opening up the A-10 season on a winning note, the Rams toppled a pair of school records with their 74-52 victory over Saint Louis on Thursday night.

The win marked Fordham's 11
th straight, besting the previous program record of 10 set in 1978-1979. By extending their record to 12-2, the Rams also set the high-water mark for the best start to a season in program history, eclipsing the 11-3 record compiled by the 1976-1977 squad.

Erin Rooney led the way for the Rams in the record-breaking win, registering her fifth double-double of the year with 21 points and 12 rebounds.Â

Abigail Corning also had a stellar night for the Rams, tallying 19 points, four rebounds, four assists, and no turnovers. The Wethersfield, Conn., native now sits just 20 points shy of 1,000 for her career.

Emily Tapio and
Hannah Missry each finished the game with nine points apiece, while Tapio also added four rebounds and three assists in the winning effort.

Fordham got on the board first to start the scoring in the opening half, grabbing a 2-0 lead on a
Samantha Clark layup just 42 seconds into the contest.Â

Saint Louis matched Fordham point-for-point until Rooney scored her first three points of the game just inside the 17-minute mark, giving the Rams a 10-7 advantage.

With her team up 12-9, Rooney scored six points on a 10-2 Rams run, putting Fordham up 22-11 at the halfway mark of the period.Â

The Billikens slowly whittled away at the Fordham advantage, eventually pulling within two points, 30-28, on a Desirae Ball layup, forcing a timeout from Coach Gaitley with just over two minutes remaining until the intermission.

Whatever the 28
th year floor general said to her team in the huddle, it worked. The Rams closed the half on a 10-0 tear, taking a 40-28 lead into the locker room.

Fordham slowly built its lead at the start of the second stanza, climbing ahead by as many as 17 on a Rooney layup with just under 14 minutes to go.

The Billikens threatened a few minutes later, scoring four in a row to move within 13, 52-39, with 11 minutes on the clock. The Rams, however, quickly answered the Billiken threat. After scoring six in a row to build the lead to 19, the Rams unleashed a 12-2 run a few minutes later, jumping ahead by 27 with 5:05 on the clock to effectively seal the game.
