Dayton Game Notes
Following their thrilling win over VCU on Wednesday night in Richmond, it's back on the road for the Fordham Rams, as they head to Dayton, Ohio, for a mathcup with the conference-leading Flyers. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
SERIES HISTORY: If there's one team that's had Fordham's number over the past several years, it's been the Dayton Flyers. Fordham's longest active conference losing streak comes against Dayton, with the Flyers taking the last eight contests between the two squads. Overall, the Rams are 4-18 against Dayton, with their last victory coming in 2005 at the A-10 Tournament.
Last season, the Rams dropped a tought decision to the 18th ranked Flyers, 68-57, in the Rose Hill Gym.
SCOUTING DAYTON: The Flyers enter Sunday's contest with the most explosive offense in the Atlantic 10, averaging 88.1 points per outing. Dayton has eclipsed the century mark twice in 14 games, while scoring at least 90 on five other occasions.
The Flyers have five players averaging double figures on the year, led by Preseason First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection Andrea Hoover at 17.6 points per game. The 5-9 junior guard from Bellbrook, Ohio, is also shooting 44 percent from the floor and 44 percent from beyond the arc, in addition to grabbing five boards a game and turning in an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.6. Amber Deane, a Preseason All-Atlantic 10 Second Team selection, is averaging nearly 16 points per outing, while Preseason First Teamer Ally Mallot averages 15.2 points and a team-best 8.4 rebounds per game, good enough for fifth in the conference.
In a nationally televised game on Thusday night against GW for first place in the conference, the Flyers destroyed the Colonials, winning 90-69 on their home floor.
