Volleyball Opens A-10 Slate at Home

Rams Welcome URI and George Mason to the Rose Hill Gym

With only one more non-conference game remaining on the schedule, the Fordham volleyball team opens up the Atlantic 10 season at home on Friday night.  The Fordham Rams will host the Rams of Rhode Island on Friday at 7 PM before welcoming A-10 newcomer George Mason to the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday, also at 7 PM.

The Rams enter conference play having won seven of their 15 games played so far this season, the third-best mark in the league.  Reigning conference champion Dayton sits in second place with a 6-6 record, while VCU tops the league, having gone 10-4 in non-conference play.

Rhode Island enters Friday's contest with a 6-7 mark, while George Mason has dropped 10 of their 14 matches so far this season.

Although the Rams enter Friday's game on a bit of a slide, having lost three of their previous four contests, senior Maria Rodenberg turned in an outstanding performance in last Saturday's 3-2 loss to CCSU.  The Cincinnati native not only shattered her old career-best with 38 digs, but also topped the school record of 33 set all the way back in 1992 by Christine Barkley.

On the season, Rodenberg not only checks in at seventh in the conference in digs per set, but also leads the league in service aces (0.43 per set).  Teammate Brennan Delsing ranks sixth in that category with 0.28 aces per set.

Senior Sara Konkel also ranks near the top of the Atlantic 10 statistically, tallying 9.42 assists per set, good enough for fourth in the conference.

Both games will be streamed live via the Atlantic 10 digital network and live stats can be found by clicking here.
