Woodruff and Franzen Unable to Lift Fordham over Loyola Chicago

Rams Fall to Ramblers in Three Sets

CHICAGO, ILL. — Fordham volleyball dropped a Friday evening match to Loyola Chicago by a score of three sets to zero.

The Rams drop to 11-15 on the season with the loss, and move to 5-8 in Atlantic 10 play.

Set One
The Rams battled early again the Ramblers in set one, trailing just 15-13 through the early stages of the match. Johanna Franzen was in a groove early, picking up several key kills to help the Rams stay competitive. The Loyola Chicago offense proved to be a bit too potent for Fordham however, as they pulled away late in the frame. The Ramblers would walk away with a 25-19 set victory, hitting an impressive .316 in the set overall.

Set Two
The Rams' offense found a groove early in set two, behind some stellar play from Bridget Woodruff. The junior picked up several kills early in the set to help Fordham jump out with a lead. The Rams would lead by 17-14 heading into the late stages, but weren't able to hold off the Ramblers' attack for long enough. The home squad went on a late run to pull away with a 25-21 set victory. Fordham hit efficiently in the set loss, with a .310 percentage as a team, but it was not enough to overcome the Ramblers' .320 mark.

Set Three
Riding momentum from their first two set victories, Loyola Chicago jumped out to a quick lead in the potentially decisive third set. The Ramblers would lead by as many as 10-4 early on. Fordham fought back, tightening the lead to 17-16 late, but was unable to pull any closer than that. The Ramblers closed the match on an 8-1 run, picking up a win in straight sets.
