Fordham Grabs Four Spots on NFCA Division I All-Region Team

On the eve of their NCAA Regional matchup against Arkansas, the Fordham Rams raked in quite a few individual honors. Four players earned First Team NFCA Division I All-Region, as Michele Daubman (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge), Elise Fortier (Coventry, R.I./Coventry), Jamie LaBovick (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain and Gabby Luety (Cortland, N.Y./Homer) were recognized as some of the premier players in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Fordham's four First Team All-Region selections tie for the second most in school history, as the 2010 Rams garnered five First Team nods and the 2007 squad earned four spots on the All-Region Squad.

All four of these players also garnered recognition from the Atlantic 10, as LaBovick made First Team All-Conference, Fortier and Luety earned Second Team and Daubman was named to the Academic All-Conference Team.

Daubman's honor comes on the heels of a breakout season for the Long Island native both in the circle and at the dish. The Plainedge High School product has registered a .315 batting average this season, including a .377 average in conference play. Daubman has also driven in 31 runs, good enough for fourth on the team. On the rubber, Daubman emerged as one of the best arms in the Fordham rotation, picking up a team-best 17 win while also leading the team in innings pitched (167.1), strikeouts (108) and complete game shutouts (4). On the year, Daubman has allowed only one walk for every three strikeouts she records.

Elise Fortier Set the Fordham Single Season Record with 19 Homers


Fortier earns her First Team All-Region honor following what was arguably the finest season ever turned in by a power hitter at Rose Hill. The Coventry, R.I., native set the single school record and sits tied with the all-time Atlantic 10 mark, having jacked 19 home runs on the season so far. Fortier also set new single-season school marks in runs scored and walks and currently ranks nearly 100 points higher than the number two mark for slugging percentage. Her 53 RBIs this season are good enough for third in a single season in Rose Hill history.

LaBovick is Hitting .411 on the Season


LaBovick's second career First Team All-Region designation comes after a regular season in which the Peoria, Ariz., native initiated an all-out assault on the Fordham record book. Her 83 hits this season are a school record and her 28 game hit streak between March and April of this year bested the previous mark by 11 games. That hitting streak also set a new record for the conference. For her career, LaBovick sits five hits behind first place in Fordham history and ranks second in doubles and at bats. She also ranks third in total bases, fourth in games played and ninth in home runs. LaBovick earned First Team All-Region as a freshman in 2010 as well.

Fordham's final First Team All-Region honoree, catcher>Gabby Luety, takes home the hardware following a stellar regular season both at and behind the plate. The Cortland, N.Y., native hit .348 on the year, ranking third on the squad behind LaBovick and Fortier. Luety also turned in some impressive power numbers, placing second on the team with 12 home runs and 49 runs batted in. In the field, Luety registered a.989 field percentage, including a perfect mark in Atlantic 10 play.
