Poughkeepsie, N.Y. -
Despite the winter-like weather, the Fordham men's tennis team ventured up to Poughkeepsie to take on Marist, hoping to win their second match in a row, but the Rams fell to the Red Foxes, 4-1.
Because of the weather, the doubles matches were not played. Srikar Alla got the Rams on the board with a straight set win over Lorenzo Rossi at first singles, 6-3, 7-6 (5), his 16th singles win of the year. But that was the only point Fordham would get in the match.
Jan Krouham had a chance to pick up a point at the sixth position, taking the first set from Fredrik Bjerke, 6-2, before dropping the second and third sets by identical 6-4 scores.
Fordham's Matty Najfeld dropped the first set to Marist's Dalen Klassen, 6-4, but came back to win the second, 7-5. However the third set was halted with Klassen up 2-1.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, April 6, as they host Xavier University on the Hawthorn/Rooney courts at 1:00 PM.
