Fordham Indoor Track & Field Finishes Season in the Top Ten Nationally in Four Events

March 7, 2013

Bronx, N.Y. - As neither event is run at this week's NCAA Championship, the final rankings for the 2012-13 indoor track & field season in the 500 meter run and the 4x800 relay events have been released by TFRRS.org, the official reporting site for results for the NCAA. Fordham was well represented on both the men's and women's side, having one entry in the top ten in all four events.

In the men's 500 meter run, senior Sean Atkinson ranked tenth nationally with his school record time of 1:02.72, set at this past weekend's IC4A Championship.

In the women's 500 meter run, junior Titi Fagade rated sixth in the country with a time of 1:12.90, which was also recorded this past weekend at the ECAC Championship. The time was just .01 off her school record time set last year and earned her Second Team All-East honors.

The women's 4x800 relay team of Fagade, Melissa Higgins, Mara Lieberman, and Kristen Stuart also ranked sixth in the nation, as the group clocked in at 8:48.24 in the ECAC Championship final this past weekend to earn Second Team All-East honors. The time set a new school by over six seconds, breaking the previous mark of 8:54.6, set in 1990 by Kathy Fullam, Karen McAuliffe, Ann Cullagh, and Kelly Gallivan.

The men's 4x800 relay team of John Cosgrove, Brian Walter, Michael Rossi, and Ryan Polo were the highest ranked of the four Fordham marks, as the group ranked fifth nationally with a time of 7:30.00, set at this past weekend's IC4A Championship. It marked the third consecutive year that the men's 4x800 relay has ranked in the top five at year's end (3rd in 2011 and 2nd in 2012).
