Newport News, Va. - Fordham University freshman pitcher Brett Kennedy (Brigantine, N.J./Atlantic City HS) was named Atlantic 10 Baseball Rookie of the Week, today by the conference office. It is his first career weekly honor.

Kennedy was very impressive in his first two home outings of the season this past week. He earned his first collegaite win last Tuesday against St. Peter's after striking out eight of ten batters he faced over three innings of scoreless relief. He followed that performance with a second relief effort on Sunday against Lehigh. In that contest, he struck out five Mountain Hawks over four innings, allowing just one unearned run.

For the season, Kennedy is 1-0 with a 4.40 ERA in three appearances, and leads the team with 14 strikeouts in 9.1 innings of work.
