The Fordham University men's basketball Rams close out the home portion of their 2013 Atlantic 10 season by hosting the Temple University Owls tonight at 7:00 PM in the last Rose Hill Gym appearance for Fordham senior Chris Gaston.
The game will be video streamed live on Fordhamsports.com and will be broadcast live on WFUV.org and can be followed via Live Stats.
Fordham enters the game with a 6-23 record, 2-12 in the Atlantic 10, after a conference setback at Saint Joseph's University on Saturday night. Temple enters the game with a 21-8 overall record, 9-5 in the A-10, and is coming off a 76-70 Atlantic 10 win over Rhode Island in Philadelphia last Saturday.
On the court, Fordham is led by junior Branden Frazier, who leads the team in and is 13th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (14.2 ppg) and he also leads the squad and is third in the conference in assists (5.0/game). Freshman guard Mandell Thomas is averaging 15.8 ppg over the past ten games and a team-high 13.9 ppg in Atlantic 10 games. He is shooting 47.5% (19-40) from behind the arc over the past ten games and is averaging a team-best 13.9 ppg in Atlantic 10 games. Gaston is averaging 14.0 ppg and 7.7 rpg on the year but missed the contest at Saint Joseph's due to illness.
Wednesday night's contest will be the 54th meeting between Fordham and Temple on the hardwood. The Owls lead the all-time series, which started in the 1931-32 season, 40-13, and have won the past six match-ups, including two wins last year, a 78-60 win in Philadelphia on February 1 as Ramone More scored a game-high 25 points and Khalif Wyatt added 24 for Temple, while Bryan Smith scored 23 for the Rams, and a 80-60 win in the Rose Hill Gym on March 3 as Juan Fernandez scored 19 points and Moore added 16 for the Owls while Chris Gaston paced the Rams with 18 points and nine rebounds.
