BRONX, N.Y. - After registering back to back double-doubles to close out the regular season, junior guard Abigail Corning (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) has been named the Atlantic 10's Co-Player of the Week.

This marks the second straight week that a Ram has earned the honor, as Marah Strickland also earned Co-Player of the Week after Fordham topped Saint Joseph's and Rhode Island.

On Wednesday against St. Bonaventure in the Rams' final home game of the season, Corning registered her best all-around performance in months. The Wethersfield, Conn., product scored 15 points on 5-8 shooting and tied a career-high with 14 rebounds to help lift Fordham over the Bonnies. Corning also went 2-3 from beyond the arc.

Then, in the regular season finale against Temple on Sunday, Corning chipped in her second straight double-double, her fourth overall on the season, scoring ten points and pulling down 12 boards to help Fordham secure its highest-ever seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. In addition to her dominance on the glass, Corning also had no trouble finding open teammates, dishing out seven assists and surrendering only two turnovers on the afternoon. The junior's seven assists were one off her career-high.

A tri-captain, Corning has been a hardworking and vocal leader on a team that's re-written the Fordham record book all season long.

"If you looked up the definition of blue collar there would be a picture of Abigail Corning," exclaimed Fordham head coach Stephanie Gaitley. "Her efforts and attitude are contagious and are critical components of who we are."

The weekly award is the fourth of Corning's career. She was named the Co-Player of the Week once as a sophomore and Rookie of the Week twice in her freshman campaign.

Corning shares the award with Amanda Dowe of Charlotte. Dowe had nine points and 15 rebounds against VCU before exploding for 13 points and a career-high 21 rebounds against Richmond.
