For the first time this season, the Fordham softball team will be in action locally on Wednesday, when the Rams travel up to New Rochelle to face off with the Iona Gaels for a single game at Rice Oval Field.
The Rams look to bounce back from two tough losses at Charlotte on Friday, and create some momentum, heading into a four-game conference weekend at Bahoshy Field against La Salle and George Washington.

SCOUTING IONA: The Gaels are 4-19  on the season and are coached by former Fordham assistant coach, Melissa Inouye.
The team is batting .237 as a group, while posting a 6.70 team ERA and a .337 opponent batting average.  Individually Eileen McCann and Beth Kann lead the offense.  McCann is batting .295 with two home runs and six RBI, while Kann is batting .294 with 10 runs scored, four home runs, and 10 RBI.
In the circle, Carly Argyle has gotten the most work, appearing in 18 games, starting eight.  She is 3-9 on the year with a 5.93 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched.
WE'RE GOING STREAKING: The Fordham offense has been clicking on all cylinders over the last 12 games, in which Fordham is 10-2.  The team is batting .357 over that span, hitting 26 home runs and averaging 8.4 runs per contest.
The hottest hitter has been senior Jamie LaBovick, as she takes a career-long 13-game hitting streak in the contest.  Over the streak, she is hitting .520 (26-50) with five doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI, and 19 runs scored.
Right behind LaBovick in the hot hitter category is Fordham's 3-4 combination of Elise Fortier and Gabby Luety.  Fortier is batting .429 over the last 12 games with 20 runs scored, four doubles, six home runs and 14 RBI.  She has drawn 15 walks in this stretch with a .600 on-base percentage.  Luety has been an RBI machine in her last 12 contests, driving in 24 runs, while hitting .457 (16-35) with four doubles, and seven home runs.
One player who has been very happy from this trio's production has been Kayla Lombardo, who has been hitting behind Luety in the five spot.  She is batting .344 in her last 11 games with 18 RBI.
UPCOMING GAMES: The Rams will have their 2013 home opener on Thursday, when Fordham hosts La Salle for an Atlantic 10 doubleheader at 1:00 PM at Bahoshy Field, followed by a noon doubleheader against George Washington on Saturday afternoon.
