Tournament Results

The Fordham golf team teed off for the first time in 2013 on Sunday, taking part in the La Salle Invitational at Tallamore Country Club in Downington, Pa. The Rams finished eighth out of 11 squads in the tournament, but two Fordham players finished in the top 20 individually.

Hofstra took home the team title, shooting a 12-over-par 296 among its five scoring players.

The invitational was cut short by a day due to ominous weather forecasts.

Nick Polvino paced the way for the Rams in their first competitive round of 2013, shooting a seven-over-par 78. The senior from Colts Neck, N.J. tied for 16th overall.

Sophomore Ben Alcorn also finished in the top 20, registering an eight-over 79 to tie for the 20th spot in the tournament.

Because they were registered in the event as individuals rather than as members of the Fordham team, neither Polvino nor Alcorn saw their scores count toward Fordham's cumulative mark.

Senior Brody Nieporte and junior Brandon Nolan put up the lowest scores of any players officially on Fordham's team roster for the tournament, as they both shot an 80 to tie for 23rd.

In addition to these efforts, Connor Monaghan shot an 81, Brian Engstrom put up 41 on each nine for an 82, Jason Del Rosso and Jeff Hogan shot 83s,
