BRONX, N.Y. -
It's a short turnaround for the Fordham Rams, as they'll take the court on Saturday afternoon in the Rose Hill Gym when they face off against the Terriers of Boston University in the Second Round of the WNIT. Tip is scheduled for 2 PM.
SERIES HISTORY: Saturday will mark only the fifth time in school history that Fordham will take on the Terriers, but interestingly enough, it will not be the first time that the two teams have met in the postseason.
The Rams and Terriers met all the way back in 1980 in the AIAW Eastern Regionals, a game in which BU emerged with a 62-61 victory.
Fordham and BU haven't played one another since 2003, when the two teams played twice in the same calendar year. Fordham took the first contest in January at home, while the Terriers won in Beantown in December.
BU won the other contest played back in 1985, giving the Terriers a 3-1 record all-time against the Rams.
SCOUTING BU: For the second straight game, the Rose Hill Gym is poised to host an all-out defensive battle. On Thursday, Army entered the friendly confines of the nation's oldest gym with the seventh best defense in the country, while BU currenlty sports the 12th best opponent scoring average in the nation (Fordham owns the 16th ranked defense in the country).
Offensively, BU has three scorers averaging in double figures. Chantell Alford leads the trio, putting in 16.6 points per outing on the season. The senior guard from West Haven, Conn., shoots 43 percent from both the field and from beyond the arc, in addition to leading the team in steals with nearly three per game.
Junior forward Rashidat Agboola, the team's leading rebounder, registers 12 points and nine boards per game, while Mo Moran scores 10.3 points and dishes out nearly six assists per outing.
