BRONX, N.Y. - For the third time this season, the Atlantic 10 has named Samantha Clark (Neptune, N.J./St. Rose)its Rookie of the Week.
Clark continued her impressive rookie campaign in Fordham's lone game last week, netting ten points and pulling down seven boards in the team's win over VCU. The performance marked the 11th time this year that Clark has reached double figure scoring.
The Neptune, N.J., native has proved invaluable during the Rams' 15-6 start. The St. Rose product has played in all 21 games for the Rams this year, making 15 starts and ranking third on the squad with just over nine points per game. Clark also ranks second on the team in rebounding, corralling 6.3 boards per contest.
For games played in the A-10, Clark ranks second in the league in field goal percentage, making over 63 percent of her tries.
Clark has also emerged as one of the premier young shot blockers in the league, recording back-to-back six block performances against Richmond and UMass. In conference games, Clark ranks fourth in the A-10 in blocked shots.
With her third Rookie of the Week honor this year, Clark ties the school record for the most weekly A-10 awards in a season. Megan Mahoney also took home the Rookie of the Week honors three times in the 2007-2008 season.
The Rams are back in action on Wednesday night, taking on the Explorers of La Salle in Philadelphia at 7 PM.
