A-10 Names Jamie LaBovick as Its Pitcher of the Week

Feb. 12, 2013

BRONX, N.Y. - In their first weekly awards of the spring season, the Atlantic 10 Conference has named senior Jamie LaBovick (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) its Pitcher of the Week for games played between February 4th and February 10th.

LaBovick's honor came after a stellar weekend in the circle for the senior. She made three appearances at the Dot Richardson Collegiate Invitational, picking up wins over LIU, Virginia Tech and Chattanooga.

Her performance on Saturday marked her finest so far this year, surrendering only three hits and picking up the complete game shutout over nationally acclaimed Virginia Tech.

On Sunday against Chattanooga, LaBovick tossed yet another wire-to-wire gem, registering the complete game victory while striking out eight, surrendering only one walk and giving up just one run.

LaBovick finished the weekend with a 3-0 record, 17 strikeouts, only four walks and a 1.91 ERA.

Perhaps the most strikingly impressive aspect of LaBovick's Pitcher of the Week Award is that she had not toed the rubber since early in her sophomore campaign, making her weekend in the circle all that more impressive given her near two-year hiatus from the position.

In earning the three wins, LaBovicks helped her own cause mightily, going 10-19 from the dish (.526), while blasting a home run, knocking in three runs and registering a career-best 4-4 outing against LIU.

This is third weekly honor of LaBovick's career, as she earned A-10 Rookie of the Week twice in her freshman season.

The Rams are back in action on Friday, February 22nd, taking on DePaul and Central Florida on the opening day of the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla.
