Dimitar "Mickey" Brzov Named Head Men's Tennis Coach at Fordham University

Bronx, N.Y. - Dimitar "Mickey" Brzov, the director of tennis at the Pound Ridge Tennis Club and the director of new business at Sound Shore Indoor Tennis, has been named head men's tennis coach at Fordham University it was announced today by Director of Athletics David Roach. Brzov replaces Cory Hubbard, who resigned to take the position of director of tennis/head men's coach at Monmouth University last month.

A 1999 graduate of Concordia College, Brzov was a four-year letterman with the tennis squad. He played at number one and number two singles, ranking as a top ten singles player in the NCAA Division II Eastern section from 1996-1999. He also holds a Masters of Science in Banking from Mercy College

Brzov has experience playing professional tennis (satellite) tournaments. A USPTA certified tennis professional, Brzov is also active in community service, having organized and coached clinics for breast cancer awareness and volunteering as a coach for "Arthur Ashe Kids Day" at the U.S. Open, helping underprivileged children learn the basics of tennis. He has also donated tennis lessons to help raise funds for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Autism Speaks. He also is a former volunteer coach at St. John's University.

Prior to Pound Ridge, Brzov was the tennis pro at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale, N.Y., from 2007-2011. He and his wife, Aneta, are the proud parents of two sons, Alex and Stefan.
