Jan. 7, 2013

BRONX, N.Y. -

For the second time in less than a month, the Atlantic 10 has named freshman forward Samantha Clark (Neptune, N.J./St. Rose) as the conference's Rookie of the Week.

Clark earned the honor for games played between December 31st and January 6th.

The Neptune, N.J., native put up two stellar performances for the Rams in a spotless week that saw the team close out non-conference play with a 10-5 record, the program's highest non-conference win total since 1983-1984. Clark registered 14 points on 6-12 shooting and added a game-high six rebounds in Fordham's convincing road win over American on Friday. On Sunday at home against Holy Cross, Clark helped Fordham emerge victorious in the team's non-conference finale, chipping in eight points and pulling down a team-high five rebounds.

The award mark's Clark's second conference honor of the year, as she was also named A-10 Rookie of the Week following back-to-back double-doubles against Southern and Morgan State in December.

Clark has made appearances in all 15 games this season for the Rams, making nine starts and finishing in double figures on seven occasions. She leads the team in rebounds with 6.2 per contest, and ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 8.2 points per game. She also ranks first on the squad in blocks and field goal percentage.

Clark is now one of three players in the conference to earn Rookie of the Week honors on multiple occasions this season, joining Tayra Melendez of URI and April Robinson of Duquesne.
