Men's Basketball Faces Ole Miss Tonight

Oxford, Miss. - The Fordham University men's basketball squad will be in action tonight as they face the University of Mississippi Rebels in the Tad Smith Coliseum at 9:00 p.m. (EST) in a game that will be televised live on ESPN3 as well as the CSS Network. The game will also be broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on the internet at wfuv.org.

Fordham enters the game with a 4-10 record after an 82-71 win over Monmouth University in the Rose Hill Gym on Monday afternoon. Ole Miss enters the game with a 10-2 record and is coming off an 81-66 win at Hawaii on December 25 as part of the Diamond Head Classic.

On the court, Fordham is led by junior guard Branden Frazier, who is averaging a team-high 16.4 ppg and leads the team with 71 assists, third best in the Atlantic 10, while senior forward Chris Gaston is averaging 15.1 ppg, second best on the squad, and a team-high 7.9 rpg in eight games this year. He is averaging 17.4 ppg and 7.4 rpg since returning to action after missing six games with an injury, including 19 points and ten rebounds against Monmouth, his second double-double of the year. Sophomore guard Bryan Smith is averaging 13.8 ppg and 10.6 rpg over the past five contests and 9.6 ppg, third best on the squad, after netting a season-high 18 points in the win over Monmouth. He is leading the team with 26 three-pointers made.

Friday night's contest will be the second meeting between Fordham and Ole Miss on the hardwood. The Rebels took the first meeting, 57-47, on December 9, 1982, in the Carousal Classic in Charlotte, N.C. This will be Fordham's first ever appearance in the Magnolia State while the Rams are 6-17 all-time against schools currently in the Southern Conference (SEC). The last SEC opponent for the Rams was Tennessee, who defeated Fordham, 78-71, in the 2006 Preseason NIT in Nashville on November 13.
