2012 Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll

Center Valley, Pa. -

Patriot League football teams combined to place 169 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll for strong performances in the classroom during the fall semester, including 30 from Fordham University.

The group featured 13 members of the Football Academic All-Patriot League Team, including two who posted a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in the fall semester. Colgate senior Chris Looney, an International Relations major and the 2012 Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year, achieved the 4.00 mark along with Lafayette junior Biology major Brad Bormann. Bucknell senior Economics major Robert Owoyele also posted a 4.00 GPA in the fall.

The Academic Honor Roll included 21 student-athletes who made the All-Patriot League Team, with 10 of those receiving first-team honors. Lehigh and Holy Cross each had five of their All-Patriot League selections make the Academic Honor Roll, while Fordham had four. That group included Fordham's Patrick Murray, a consensus All-America placekicker who recorded a 3.47 GPA in the fall while majoring in Finance.

For the third straight year, Fordham led all schools with 30 honorees, followed by Holy Cross with 29 and Bucknell with 27. Georgetown (25), Lehigh (24), Lafayette (22) and Colgate (12) were also well-represented on the Academic Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
