CINCINNATI -
Continuing their best start to a conference schedule since
joining the Atlantic 10 nearly two decades ago, Fordham heads out Cincinnati,
Ohio on Wednesday to take on Xavier.
SERIES HISTORY: Facing off against Xavier for the 23rd time in program
history, Fordham enters Wednesday's game with a 3-19 record all-time
against the Musketeers.
Fordham found some success early in the series history, taking
three out of the first five contests held between the two teams. But since the
two became Atlantic 10 foes, Xavier has held a colossal advantage, taking
18 out of 19 contests, including the last 17 in a row.
Three of the losses in the past four years have come against Musketeer
teams ranked in the top 15 nationally, including one Xavier squad
ranked fifth.
The Rams have had a knack for defying series histories this season;
however, picking up their first ever victory against Charlotte and downing
Richmond for only the second time in school history.
SCOUTING XAVIER: Having yet to win a game in A-10 play with an
0-3 mark, the Musketeers have struggled so far this season. They enter
Wednesday's game with a 6-11 record overall, with two of those losses
coming against nationally ranked powerhouses Michigan and Duke.
Xavier's 0-3 conference mark is also a little misleading, with two of their
losses coming by a combined six points against Duquesne and Butler.
The Musketeers are led by Amber Gray, who despite making just
five starts, tops the team with just under 11 points per outing. Gray is one
of three Musketeers averaging in double figures, as Ashley Wanninger and
Shatyra Hawkes average just a touch over ten points per contest.
