Newport News, Va. - A trio of Fordham swimmers were among this week's Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving award winners, it was announced by the league on Tuesday. Senior Brienne Ryan (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall) was selected as the Women's Co-Performer of the Week for the fifth time this season, while Shintaro Noguchi (Tiburon, Calif./Redwood) earned Men's Performer of the Week honors for the second time this year. Fordham's final award winner was Steve Sholdra (Renton, Wash./H.B. Education), who was the Men's Rookie of the Week for the sixth time.

Capturing her 12th career Atlantic 10 Performer award, Ryan kicked off the second semester with a bang,l winning three individual events in two meets this weekend. She was the lone multi-event winner for Fordham during the La Salle/Richmond tri-meet on Saturday, winning both the 100- (55.01) and 200-yard backstroke (2:00.55) events in season-best times. She also helped the Rams' 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams post their top times of the season, taking first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:30.30), while just getting touched out in the 200 medley relay by Richmond by .04 seconds (1:45.19). Ryan also won the 100 butterfly event (58.03) against Iona on Friday and helped the 200 medley relay to an event win.

Noguchi garnered Men's Performer of the Week accolades for the third time in his career after a very strong weekend in victories over Iona and La Salle. It was the first time in four seasons that Fordham had beaten La Salle. Noguchi won three individual events against La Salle on Saturday, which included the 100- (46.84) and 200-yard freestyle (1:42.91) and the 100-yard butterfly (50.54). On Friday, he won the 50-yard freestyle (21.49) against Iona while helping both relay teams to event wins.

Sholdra had another strong weekend, tying the conference record with six weekly rookie awards, originally set by Fordham's Donnie Callara in 2004-05. He won three individual events against La Salle, which included the 1000- (9:33.81) and 500-yard freestyle (4:40.75) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.52). He also won the 200-yard individual medley against Iona on Friday (1:57.36), while taking second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.00).

Ryan, Nougchi, Sholdra and the rest of the Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on Saturday, January 26th, when the Rams travel to Piscataway, New Jersey for a tri-meet with Rutgers, Rider and Yale.
