CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coming off their best non-conference record since 1983-1984, the Fordham women's basketball team kicks off the A-10 season by heading down to North Carolina to take on the Charlotte 49ers.

SERIES HISTORY: Sunday marks the eighth meeting all-time between the Rams and 49ers, and the series history has not been too kind to Fordham. The Rams currently sit with an 0-7 mark against their conference foes, with the first meeting between the two teams coming when Charlotte joined the A-10 for the 2005-2006 season.

SCOUTING CHARLOTTE: The Rams will be sure to face a tough test when they enter Halton Arena on Sunday afternoon, taking on a team that enters conference play with an 11-3 record, including a 6-2 mark at home. Under second year head coach Cara Consuegra, the 49ers have outscored their opponents by 10.6 points per game so far this year, and outrebounded the opposition by over nine boards per outing.

Picked to finish third in the conference entering the season, the 49ers feature a talented starting line up, anchored in the front court by senior forwards Jennifer Hailey and Amanda Dowe, both of whom are averaging a double-double this season. Hailey, a 6'3" Marshville, N.C., native leads the team with 14.4 points per contest and pulls down just under 11 boards per game. Dowe, a 6'4" product of Tabor City, N.C., averages 11.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game, good enough for tops on the squad.

In the back court, Jai Forney and Hillary Sigmon both average in the area of ten points per game, while point guard Ny Hammonds continues her play as one of the best distributors in the country. The 5'5" junior from Concord, N.C., averages an astounding 7.4 assists per contest, good enough for first in the conference and fourth in the nation.

The game can be seen starting at 2PM on the CBS Sports Network, or you can listen live by going to wfuvsports.org.
